Since 1997, Mujeres en las Artes has relied on the support of Bayardo Blandino, a well-known Nicaraguan sculptor who has developed his artistic career in Honduras. As the artistic director and curator of the Contemporary Visual Arts Center run by Mujeres en las Artes, Blandino has worked to integrate the visual and dramatic arts to break with traditional concepts and evolve toward interdisciplinary expressions.
“It is very enriching, especially for the Honduran
people who are focused on modernism,” says Blandino. “It fosters greater
activity in terms of artistic proposals and achievements. There was a
need for a catalyst for female artists and this has been one of our priorities.”
